How to advertise as a wedding videographer. Advertising as a wedding videographer can be a challenging and costly task, but there are several methods that have proven successful for us over the years.
1. Content, Venues, Suppliers (5 Stars) One of the most effective ways for us to reach potential clients has been through networking with other wedding vendors and forming relationships with venues. As a videographer you are in the position of benefit to other suppliers and venue, you are creating high quality video content of their hard work. We have used this to form great relationships with planners, bakers, florists, photographers and venues.
By creating content and sending to relevant suppliers for them to use as they wish, we have been able to build a reputation as a reliable and professional videographer, which has led to us being recommended by venues and included on preferred supplier lists.
2. Video Content & Social Media (4 Stars) Social media, particularly Instagram and TikTok, has also been a valuable tool for us. By consistently posting content and using stories, we have been able to showcase our work and reach a larger audience. We have found success by creating videos and posts featuring venues, cakes, flowers, and other wedding elements, and tagging the relevant suppliers. We have also got work by our couples posting their own content when we have surprised them with extras and gone above what's expected.
3. Wedding Directories and Blogs (3 Stars) Wedding directories, such as Hitched, can be a useful tool for reaching engaged couples, but the cost of advertising and the quality of leads can vary. We have found that while directories can generate a high volume of leads, the conversion rate can be low due to the generic nature of the requests for information and the fact that couples may not have actually viewed our profile before contacting us. To increase our conversion rate, we have found it helpful to respond quickly and follow up with phone calls or texts.
3. Wedding Fairs (2 Stars) While we have had mixed experiences with wedding fairs and shows, we have found success at bespoke and luxury events, as well as at venue-specific shows where we are a preferred supplier. We have also found it beneficial to feature our work on high-quality wedding blogs, as this can lead to potential bookings and improve our search engine rankings.
4. Recommendations - Bonus (5 Stars) A final point is that we pick up most of our work through couple recommendations, this has not been mentioned and it is not seen formally as a form of advertising (in the sense of you have little control over the numbers etc).
But as mentioned above, we always try to over deliver. We probably do undersell ourselves, but we make sure we always over deliver on our promises and throw in extras when we can. This has led to most couples recommending us to friends and especially family.
Also consider offering benefits to past brides for recommending you to future couples, and rewarding those who post genuine reviews of your work. You could even film a video review with them or have them create their own video review. While these methods may not always result in immediate bookings, they can help to establish your reputation and build trust with potential clients.
